Pixton Debate: Charter Schools are Bad

March 9, 2017

Charter schools in the United States were established to provide greater flexibility within public education; their lesson plans are meant to offer innovation in the classroom to students who would stand to benefit from an alternative curriculum.

Although many on both sides of the political spectrum support charter schools, significant debate over their success data has called into question whether or not their presence, including their intake of tax dollars, is justifiable to the public. What’s more, newly-appointed Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has pushed charter schools in her home state of Michigan in spite of their mixed results.

To stimulate a discussion and gain insight, we’ve created two “debate comics” about charter schools. In this comic, we present a popular argument against charter schools.

Also see our other comic, illustrating a popular argument in favor of charter schools.
